Mission to Exotic Tanzania
Trinity Lutheran Church financially supports the Mwanza Youth Program and the ministry of Pastor Emmanuel Mwaikuju to work with youth in the surrounding region. There is an ongoing need for educational materials to reach and educate youth in an attempt to break the chain of poverty and unemployment in the area. Each year in the fall, a Trinity group travels to Tanzania to share their faith and live the love of God in a remote place.
The beautiful African county of Tanzania, specifically to the areas of Bukoba and Ruhija, offers an opportunity of a lifetime to meet and deliver aid, music, and education to impoverished families. While in the Bukoba region in NW Tanzania, you will spend quite a bit of time with the Huyawa organization. Huyawa is a program run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT) that promotes the well-being of over 33,000 AIDS orphans, their families, and communities through the implementation of social care, healthcare, education, legal aid and income generating activities.
In Ruhija, the Ruhija Evangelical Academy trains lay leaders for service in the ELXT in the areas of music, art, evangelism, preaching and teaching. Our missionaries teach music and learn about African music and instruments.
Tanzania Education Sponsorship is an ongoing mission project of Trinity's Sunday School, Preschool, Kindergarten and Childcare. Together, staff and children are sponsoring the education of Pastor Emmanuel's children. As a goal of our classroom curriculum, we will be teaching children about sharing with the world.

"This place spoke to my heart, my gifts, and my talents, and it was an absolute joy to be there. I hope to return to Tanzania to spend a longer time teaching, learning, giving, receiving, and experiencing."
Deb Johnson, missionary to Tanzania in 2009
