Packs for Kids

Packs for Kids is a new ministry at Pointe of Grace in Mukilteo. We are serving families in poverty with children attending Olympic View Middle School.

Increasing numbers of families cannot meet their basic needs, including nutrition for children. This program supports families through the weekend and on school holidays when school meal programs are not available. Each week, four empty backpacks are filled with non-perishable food items from a list provided by Olympic View; the backpacks are returned each Friday so the students may take them home for the weekend. This program is reliable, consistent and confidential for the student and their family.

How can you contribute to this ministry for children? It costs about $10 to purchase food for each pack or $40 per week. Cash donations are appreciated as are food contributions. Please make checks payable to Pointe of Grace and write Neighbors in Need/Packs for Kids on the memo line or include a note with a cash donation. Food donations may be dropped off in the collection bins near the Sanctuary.

We need the following non-perishable food items of an appropriate size to fit in a typical backpack:

Chicken or Tuna Helper
Cans of tuna or chicken
Macaroni and cheese
Boxes of cereal and pancake mix
Ramen or Cup of Soups
Pudding and applesauce cups
Granola or protein bars
Raisins and dried fruit
Single serving real fruit juice
