About
Inspired by themes of home and belonging, Choral Arts NW joins community partner Solid Ground and our Northwest Regional Music Educators Sing-In Choir for a dynamic concert exploring ideas of housing, sanctuary, and human connection. Through choral classics spanning romantic, modern, and pop styles, this program gives voice to community and care. At its heart is Tim Takach’s At Home—a moving work for choir with clarinet and flute, setting poignant texts by Wendell Berry and Julia Klatt Singer. This Place, Our Home also includes a world-premiere commission by composer (and CANW tenor) Alex Nguyễn, celebrating Solid Ground’s Housing First and anti-poverty initiatives, with texts by Solid Ground Housing youth residents
Highlights:
Timothy Takach’s At Home, a multi-movement work setting poetry by Wendell Berry, with flute and clarinet
Our second annual Music Educators Sing-In adjunct choir kicks of the concert
Music by Johannes Brahms, Jocelyn Hagen, Rosephanye Powell, Jadie Reeves, Moira Smiley, Dale…
