About
Dr. Hewitt’s career in theological education has been marked by ecumenical and cultural diversity. As a dean in Roman Catholic seminaries, he developed bi-cultural priest-training programs and pioneered cross-cultural education for both Catholic and Protestant students. A graduate of Yale with doctoral studies in England and Switzerland, he later directed the Northwest House of Theological Studies, a Lutheran, Episcopal, Methodist, and U.C.C. center serving seminarians from nine schools.
Now Professor Emeritus of Biblical Studies at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, Dr. Hewitt has also taught at Willamette University and served for fifteen years as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children. A dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada, he also served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserve.
