A Vision of Community, A Commitment to Hope.

For over a decade, Trinity Lutheran Church & Schools has nurtured a vision of creating a space where community needs could be met with compassion, dignity, and collaboration. That vision is becoming reality through the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center (LNC), a project of Volunteers of America Western Washington rising on land provided by TLCS.

As this groundbreaking partnership nears completion—with doors set to open in early 2026—the TLCS/LNC Engagement Team has been commissioned by the Church Council to help prepare our congregation to be an active, relational, and welcoming presence alongside the LNC. The team’s work centers on strengthening partnerships, fostering meaningful communication, and equipping Trinity to live more fully into our call to be good neighbors—rooted in generosity, grounded in faith, and ready to grow with our community.

Current members of the Engagement Team include Mike Schultz (chair), Pastor Hector Garfias-Toledo, David Greenlee, Larry Pennings, and Mary Denny.

Origin Story

As we witness the Lynnwood Community Center building being erected on our property, it might be easy to forget that this impressive new ministry facility in partnership with Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOAWW) is actually the fruition of a seed idea generated by Trinity Lutheran congregational members well over a decade ago. So it is worth pausing to remember how this vision came to be and honor the contribution of those who have persevered over fourteen years in nurturing a seemingly impossible vision to the point that it is becoming a reality right before our eyes.
