Building Project Update: Special Congregational Meeting

We are focusing first on the roof and recently received our building permit. Our contractor is procuring materials and expects to start work on site in September. We still expect to complete the roof portion of the project within the budget approved by the congregation ($1.2M + up to 10% contingency).  

The siding portion of the project has required additional design work. There are more options than we initially understood, and some costs are higher than original estimates. Depending upon how we approach this, costs for siding work could exceed the amount approved by the congregation in April ($500k + up to 10% contingency). The good news is that we have design options and possible funding options for costs that exceed original estimates.  There will be a congregational forum after worship on September 10 to discuss these options.

A Special Congregational Meeting will take place on Sunday, September 17 following worship to vote whether to authorize costs in excess of the amount approved by the congregation last April.
