About
Michael Plagerman is an active recitalist and church music director, having performed and held positions across the Northwest, Midwest, and East Coast. He holds a B.M. from Pacific Lutheran University (summa cum laude), a Master of Sacred Music in organ from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master of Fine Arts from Cornell. As an active church musician he is the Director of Sacred Music at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Seattle, where he directs two volunteer and one professional choral ensembles in addition to administrating the church’s concert series. In addition, he is presently serving as adjunct organ teacher and lecturer at Pacific Lutheran University. Michael has received numerous scholarships and awards including the James D. Holloway Scholar, the David P. Dahl Organ Scholar, the Craig Cramer award in Organ Performance and the Dean’s Award for Excellence. He is currently finishing his doctoral dissertation at Cornell University where he studied with Annette Richards, Christophe Mantoux and Nathan Laube. His research focuses on late 19th-century American organ performance.
