In traditional Kintsugi, the adhesive used is urushi lacquer—a living, organic resin that is temperamental and slow. Crucially, this lacquer does not dry through evaporation; it “cures” through a chemical reaction with moisture and oxygen. It literally needs to breathe to become strong. This week is a provocative exploration of The Spirit as Resin.
