August is International Peace Month

August is National Breastfeeding Month

International Peace Month was first observed in August 1926, when leaders from around the world gathered in Germany to discuss peace efforts in the wake of the First World War. Nearly a century later, this month still serves as a reminder that the work of peace is ongoing and that each of us has a role to play.

Whether on a global stage or in our daily relationships, peace requires intentional action—listening before speaking, seeking understanding, and choosing love over division.

Scripture

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

Peacemaking is not passive—it’s active and courageous. It calls us to speak truth, seek justice, and extend grace even when it is difficult.

Prayer

Loving God, we come before you praying for peace to fill our world. We ask for your divine intervention to bring an end to conflicts, violence, and hatred. May your peace reign in the hearts of leaders and individuals worldwide. We trust in your power to heal and unite nations.

Amen.
