Greetings from your Congregation Council!
Below are highlights from the May 21st monthly Council meeting. I am reflecting on how the congregation continues to lean into building, belonging, and becoming.
We will be working on regular updates to the congregation on where we are at in the hiring process for each of the open positions that are being built. As a reminder, these are all the same positions that were included in the existing budget. The Pastoral Care Position Call Committee had an orientation meeting with Assistant Bishop Andy Yee, and the Synod is working on the roster of candidates. The Families, Children, and Youth Coordinator Position, and Relational Ministries Coordinator Position search committees are meeting to coordinate their next steps, and the positions are soon to be posted. We also discussed the recent forums about calling a Deacon. The sessions brought important insights.
We discussed the Light for the Journey (Phase II and III of Lighting Project) Capital Campaign. The congregation pledged about $90,000 toward the $188,000 goal. We are very grateful for the amount of funds raised, especially in such a short-time frame. We are following up to ensure everyone has been able to participate, and continuing to explore any other options for the gap.
We discussed more details for the ELCA 2027 Youth Gathering next Summer in Minneapolis. This is a wonderful opportunity for our youth and nurturing belonging and becoming. The Council approved funds to go toward part of the cost. Expect to also see some youth fundraising events in the coming year. Staff will be on their annual outing July 30th. Staff send their gratitude for everyone’s support.
With so many moving pieces, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us with questions.
Humbly,
Your Congregation Council (Submitted by Jenny Louch, Secretary)
