Neighbors in Need Report + July 25, 2026

Why would Shawna and Susan be so excited about a successful pot of coffee? (You just had to be there 🙁) Thank you both for a lot of cleanup and for outsmarting that evil appliance.

The multi-purpose room filled up early this morning! Every table was full by 8 AM (Again, thank you Susan and Shawna for coffee). Everybody was up for peaceful companionship. What a pleasant morning!

It was Gloria Dei Lutheran who fed "the masses". They served 176 plates of biscuits and gravy, sausages, fruit, and fruit juice. Plus, they prepared and served burritos. Gloria Dei brings a large, hardworking team. You define serving.

Who had time to count pantry customers? A reasonable guess would be 100 bags? Thank God for Edmonds Food Bank, Advocates Recovery Services and Franz Bakery.

Remember Trinity Garden? The harvests are coming in. Tomatoes are ripening. Squash, beets and lettuces are thriving. Watching a Neighbor enjoy a fresh produce is one of the best parts of the morning.

Our pantry has been low on toiletries recently. Gloria Dei to the rescue! Thank you for soaps, dental care, grooming aids, etc. etc. etc. We have a favorite Neighbor who was desperate for a comb. We were even checking our own purses for a comb we could share. Sure enough!! Our gift from Gloria Dei included combs. It felt so good to see her gratitude.

On a "feel good" day we are reminded why we are doing this and that we are truly serving

"Neighbors in Need’s mission is to serve all people by providing basic support services, encouragement, and unconditional acceptance within a safe, caring environment. This program extends God’s love through neighborly compassion and respect to anyone facing life’s challenges, while inspiring all to continue in our shared quest for wholeness."

With thanks,

Joan
