Library Lovers Month

Observed throughout February, National Library Lovers Month invites appreciation for the vital role libraries play in individual lives and in the health of communities. While libraries offer access to books, knowledge, and entertainment, they are also among the last remaining “third spaces” in society—places outside of home and work where people can gather, connect, and belong.

Libraries are far more than shelves of books. They host community classes, support children learning to read, provide internet access, offer health and welfare check-ins, and serve as places of warmth and safety for unhoused neighbors. In countless quiet and powerful ways, libraries act as pillars of community life—spaces where minds grow and dignity is upheld.

Scripture

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1

This verse echoes the spirit of libraries as shared spaces of welcome, learning, and connection across differences.

Prayer

God of knowledge and of care, we offer gratitude for libraries and the peace and community they offer. Within the walls of our libraries, both our minds and our hearts are given room to grow. Amen

Amen.
