Neighbors in Need Report + May 31, 2025

Updated: Jun 2

The word must have got out that there would be a "full meal deal" breakfast today. Our team from Northwest Church served scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes with "all you can pour" syrup and fruit juice as well as breakfast burritos. They served well over 150 plates. Thank you to each of you for a lot of work and for your company.

Having served such a large crowd means an abundance of pots and pans, plates, glasses and silverware. Thank you, David, for a full morning of dishwashing duties. It's solitary work. We are grateful.

A large breakfast crowd means that the pantry and clothing area are also busy. Peggy and Rick even put in a overtime. They were caring for Neighbors even as breakfast tables were being cleaned and put away. Each Neighbor gets one on one fashion assistance. They leave with clothes that are in good condition and that fit properly.

The pantry is another personal service department. Team members help Neighbors choose their favorite Trader Joe's salad, favorite fresh fruit and a sandwich for later lunch. These items are in addition to pre-packed bags of groceries. Ninety-one Neighbors received groceries, and one family picked up a "family box". Six dogs and two cats lined up to accept kibbles and treats.

It's fresh vegetables time already! 🙂 Our Neighbors were happy to see freshly harvested radishes and lettuce. Peas, green beans and tomatoes are thriving. They will soon be ready for harvest and included in the bounty.

"My blood pressure is good!" This proud exclamation from a Neighbor who had consulted with the Advocates Recovery Services medical team. Thank you, ARS for weekly medical care and for all that you do for our Neighbors.

Prayer request: Kevin asks us to join him in prayer. First to pray for his sister, Maxine that she rests in peace. Also pray with him that he can have easy access to his SSI funds so that he can renew his passport and driver's license.

We wish you health and peace,

Joan
