Neighbors in Need Report + August 15, 2026

It was a quiet morning. Apparently, our Neighbors wanted to enjoy coffee, a burrito and a comfortable moment to chat. We were mostly closed half an hour early.

Thank you, St Philomena and St Demiana Coptic Congregation!! They cooked and served 120 burritos. They brought a huge box of socks and men's jeans. They helped sort in the clothing bank. And they did a lot of cleaning. On behalf of our Neighbors, thank you for your generosity. On behalf of your fellow volunteers, we sure enjoy your company,

The pantry gave 83 bags of groceries and 3 family bags. Even though the morning seemed quiet, they were aa busy team.

As we see autumn on the horizon, we are grateful to Advent Lutheran Church for polar fleece blankets and hand-knitted scarves. They will soon make chilly mornings outside a little bit cozy

There was good news from our Neighbors this morning.

  • Several of our Neighbors are now sheltered in the newly converted to shelter Motel 8 in Edmonds. The shelter is staffed with medical professionals and social services experts. By the end of their stay there, residents will be healthier and connected to housing.

  • Another long time Neighbor is sheltered in Monroe in a similar program.

  • Jeffrey, has attended NiN for years. He has steadily worked part-time jobs, but it took years to save up for housing. He is now celebrating living in an apartment. His furnishings total out to a bed. We don't have room to be a warehouse, but he would be grateful for household furnishings from linens, pots and pans and tableware, cleaning supplies and furniture. If you do have extra's, please send an e-mail or give me a call. I'll happily help with pick up and delivery.

  • Remember Renee? She is a small woman with a thick New York accent. We would see her around Lynnwood managing three wagons full of her worldly goods. Tony saw her last week 🙂 She is in a shelter in north Seattle.

Just have to brag about Advocates Recovery Services. It occurred to them to ask Bombas Socks for extra donations to take to firefighters and victims of the Spokane fires. Bombas agreed to ship 48 cases of socks and men's and women's underwear. Tony will deliver next week. We're honored to have you as part of our Saturday mornings.

In gratitude for all kinds of stuff,

Joan
