National Bullying Prevention Month

ree

Since 2006, National Bullying Prevention Month has brought communities together to confront one of the most pervasive challenges facing young people today. Bullying—whether in person, online, or through exclusion—harms not only individuals but entire communities, leaving deep emotional and psychological wounds.

As people of faith, we are called to nurture empathy and compassion in all our relationships. By teaching kindness, modeling respect, and building safe spaces, we reflect the love of Christ in a world that often prizes power over gentleness.

Quote

“Each of us deserves the freedom to pursue our own version of happiness. No one deserves to be bullied.” — Barack Obama

These words challenge us to create communities where every person feels safe, valued, and free to be who they are.

Prayer

God of peace,

You created us to live in harmony with one another.

We pray for all who have been bullied — that they may know their worth and find healing.

Transform the hearts of those who harm others, that they might learn empathy and love.

Empower us to be courageous in the face of cruelty and to act with kindness wherever we go.

Amen.

Action

  • Be an upstander. Speak out when you witness bullying. Silence can be mistaken for approval.

  • Promote empathy. Encourage schools and families to teach kindness and inclusion.

  • Create opportunities for kindness. Volunteer, thank someone, help a neighbor, or reach out to someone who feels isolated.

  • Engage online. Share positive messages using #StandUpToBullying and #ChooseKindness.
