Seems like it is no longer true that we see fewer guests at the first of the month and higher numbers as the weeks go by. We welcomed a crowd 🙂
There wasn't time to count this morning, but we refilled the clean plate dispenser at least three times. That would amount to roughly 150 breakfasts. We're grateful to a team of friends this morning. Sabrina (who cooks for everybody), Michael (who cooks for St Dustin's Episcopal in Shoreline) and Erik (who cooks for St Dustan's and for Annie's Kitchen) for lots and lots of nutrition. They served a fajita's casserole, scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and a variety of beverages.
With such high numbers, our cleanup crew gets special gratitude. Alan ran the dishwasher for four solid hours. Three volunteers spent the whole morning discerning the correct spot to put away clean dishes, silverware, utensils, pots and pans and glassware. Chuck must have made a dozen trips to the garbage and recycle bins. Michael and Erik deep cleaned the grill and stove. Teresa won't recognize her kitchen when she gets to work on Monday.
The pantry was just as busy as the kitchen. They distributed more than 90 grocery bags, plus salads, beverages, and toiletries. Two families received grocery boxes.
Our clothing bank continues to keep neighbors clean, warm, and dry. Their department doubles as "caring central". Because they serve one Neighbor at a time, they have time to listen and become trusted confidants.
Peggy and AJ visited Joey today. He is still in rehab and working hard toward a full recovery.

Thanks to all. We are truly blessed by our capacity to serve.
