Neighbors in Need Report + July 26, 2025

Photos of generosity!

BEFORE:

  1. Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church donated (no exaggeration) a full pick-up load plus a full car load of beautiful clothing

  2. Full Life Care in Everett donated (again no exaggeration) 3 stuffed carloads of food to our pantry.

We are grateful to our Unitarian partners for beautiful clothing. And also thank you to Pastor Gail at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for directing Full Life to Neighbors in Need

AFTER

  • Chuck put two days into organizing our storage room so that our food gifts would be efficiently accessible on Saturday morning.

  • Peggy spent Wednesday organizing clothing by size, season and style.

  • Peggy, Michelle, and Chuck worked together for a full day on Thursday to finish sorting, to label and to stage clothing racks for display on Saturday morning.

(Amazon only wishes ................... 😊🙃)

Efficiency was critical this morning! Our pantry provided grocery bags to 110 Neighbors and food boxes to 4 families. An abundance of salads and fresh fruit delivered by Edmonds Food Bank and sandwiches and pastries from Advocates Recovery Services were completely gone by 9:30 this morning. We even ran out of burritos!!

Thank you to St Philopateer St Demiana Coptic Orthodox Church for preparing burritos this morning. Please come back again soon. Your delicious burritos and the friendship you offer to every Neighbor is a big deal.

A few Neighbor updates:

  • Renee is now living in a shelter in north Seattle. She is comfortable there and willingly accepting health care.

  • Jerry has shelter! A local car dealer has outfitted an RV in a quiet area of his car lot. Jerry is warm, dry and safe at night. We notice his sincere smiles and calm demeanor. That's shelter can do.

  • Robin, thanks to advice from nurse Gail, has sought thorough health assessment. She now wears a heart monitor and will soon have a lump biopsied.

  • Sherie is also accepting professional health care. Ovarian cancer is common in her family. She is open to thorough testing.

  • Joey, with Jeannine's help, has taken all of the steps at DSHS to get ID and to receive SNAP benefits. With the ID he can set up a bank account and access further services.

It was a busy, but never hectic day. Thank you to all.

We are blessed through our Saturday mornings.
