Preparing the Way: Advent Dignity Food Drive

Advent Sundays, November 30 – December 21

ree

This Advent, the Diversity and Inclusion Ministry (DIM) invites you to join our Dignity Drive—a vital collection of specific goods for the Lynnwood Food Bank.

Inspired by the radical love and hospitality of Jesus Christ, this project is a direct, tangible expression of our commitment to Justice and Inclusion by supporting our most vulnerable neighbors.

Collection Schedule (Advent Sundays):

  • Nov 30: Canned chicken or tuna (packed in water, low sodium)

  • Dec 7: Peanut and nut butters

  • Dec 14: Canned fruit in 100% juice or unsweetened applesauce

  • Dec 21: Culturally relevant foods (Asian, Hispanic & Middle Eastern), such as couscous, fish sauce, sesame oil, gochujang/chili paste, rice noodles, basmati rice, lentils, masa flour, honey

Our Values in Action

This collection is not just charity; it's a movement that puts our core values into practice:

  • Inclusion: We extend "radical hospitality" to those on the margins, ensuring they feel seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.

  • Justice: By providing essential, high-quality goods, we honor the inherent dignity of every person.

  • Diversity: We respectfully collect culturally relevant and specific items to meet the diverse needs of individuals supported by community assistance programs.

Focus: Celebrate + Advocate + Collaborate

Your participation helps us live out our mission:

  • Celebrate: We celebrate the God-given dignity of every person through this act of generosity.

  • Advocate: We are an active voice for Justice, confronting hardship by providing direct relief.

  • Collaborate: We partner with the Lynnwood food bank to ensure our efforts are effective and directly empower the marginalized.

By contributing, you help the DIM create a community where everyone belongs and is supported.
