Neighbors in Need Report + August 9, 2025

Thank you to Bill! Bill was a first time host this morning. He served fried potatoes, a ham and vegetables casserole, and biscuits and gravy, plus milk and orange juice. Thank you to John, Jude and Mike for being kitchen guides and servers. The team served 170 plates.

Serving 170 plates is A LOT of dishes, silverware, glassware, serving dishes, and pots and pans. John and/or David are in the scullery on a weekly basis. This is a big deal. Thank you.

Our pantry was as always busy. The team served 87 Neighbors with groceries which they always customize with each Neighbor's choice of salad, sandwich, fresh fruit, peanut butter, and bottled water or juice. Thanks to weekly gifts from Edmonds food bank, and monthly supplies of cereals, fruits, tuna and cheese from Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation, our Neighbors can count on at least a weekend's nutrition.

Nurse Gail, with Mercy Watch was with us today. She had 12 Neighbors lined up as soon as she set up her table. She did many blood pressure checks, handed out a bunch of band-aids and spent time consulting. Gail, also benefits from Edmonds food bank. They gift Mercy Watch over-the-counter medicines and vitamins, as well as first aid supplies

The Trinity Community Garden is absolutely beautiful right now. Our Neighbors fresh lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini and tomatoes. It's a good thing that the tomatoes don't ripen all at the same time. There are hundreds in various stages of readiness.

It's mid-summer which means we had scant crew this morning. To quote Avis, "I perspired!" Everyone multi-tasked. We are a willing community.

With thanks,

Joan
