A generous, hot breakfast greeted another large crowd this morning. Thank you to the team from Holy Rosary Catholic Church for biscuits and gravy, sausage links, choice of fresh fruits, choice of beverages, and a selection of carefully warmed Cottage Bakery pastries. This was luxury. We all thank you.
Speaking of the kitchen, all of our breakfast teams have their own stories about the restaurant style can opener in Trinity's kitchen. It's abuse of volunteer chefs peaked today. It tried to eat a #10 can of gravy! Allen to the rescue. What a mess.......

Our pantry served 93 Neighbors this morning. This is a lot of personal service as they help Neighbors select a favorite soup, Franz bakery bread, Trader Joe's salads and fruits, plus any toiletries that they need.
We notice that every week brings us unfamiliar, one time only guests. Most are timid. Some show their uncertainty by sullen defensiveness. It is our pantry team and coffee hosts who welcome each guest and make them comfortable.
Thank you to Heroe's Cafe for generous clothing donations!! Mary brought in several bags of needed men's clothing.
Thank you to Lynnwood Hygiene Center for sharing A LOT of food and toiletries. Our families will especially benefit from your gifts.
Christine and Markus, medical team for Advocates Recovery Services had an eventful morning. They cared for several of our first time guests as well as Neighbors who count on seeing them regularly. We had to call 911 for a Neighbor who fainted. What a comfort for all of us that Christine and Markus could properly care for him until South County Fire arrived.
Neighbor updates:
Joey continues with his physical therapy after being struck by a car. He will stay in rehab until safe housing is available. He sends his greeting to everyone. He is grateful for visits from NiN volunteers.
Sue is getting more work hours as her bosses appreciate her customer service skills.
Dwight is nearly finished with training to be a highway construction flagger.
Sad news is that young Tyler passed away last Tuesday night. He had strong family support, Neighbors in Need and Lynnwood Hygiene Center support and he wanted very much to be healthy. "Feti" is a demon. We are in touch with his family and will support their memorial preferences.
Cody is becoming a successful artist! He has finished 40 paintings and has sold 24.

What would we do without David?? The dishwasher cooperates with him. The coffee pot never overflows for him. Rumor has it that the can opener even behaves for him. Just for today, we let him run the "Zamboni". Thanks for everything, David.

With patience and love for our Neighbors
Joan,
For NiN leadership.
