Neighbors in Need Report + June 14, 2025

It seemed like a quiet day this morning. The clothing bank was busy on a very chilly morning. Other than that, our Neighbors seemed happy to drink hot coffee or hot chocolate while they listened to Bill's music. He sure adds ambiance to each morning that he is with us. Bonus treat was a selection of donuts, a gift from Franz Bakery.

The team from Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church cooked burritos this morning. Thank you! 🙂

Also thank you to EUUC for lots of nutrition. Every month they bring a month's worth of cheese sticks, breakfast cereals, tuna fish packets, mandarin oranges and peanut butter. That's a lot of very important protein. Our Neighbors are grateful.

Mercy Watch nurses Gail and Joyce were with us this morning and were steady/busy the entire morning. In addition to addressing Neighbors' symptom concerns and providing wound care, they cared for a woman whose blood sugar was 578 (shouldn't be over 100!) and they dressed and bandaged a young man who had multiple open sores on both legs. Their expertise is life saving.

Our pantry served 75 Neighbors this morning and four dogs. In addition to prepared foods, plus salads and fresh fruit from Edmonds Food Bank, we could offer fresh salad greens from the Trinity Neighborhood Garden. The garden is thriving. Fresh peas and tomatoes will be available very soon.

As always, Advocates Recovery Services were with us. They are generous providers of sandwiches, coffee, and cookies. They also are "resource smart". Our Neighbors can count on them for dependable resources. PLEASE NOTE! The attachment is an invitation to a health clinic to be hosted at Advocates Recovery Services' home office. Spread the word!!

Happy Father's Day to all dads and those who serve as dads.
