Neighbors in Need Report + November 23, 2024

We served lots of Neighbors today. There were several that we had not seen in a long time. It's always good to see them even if we wish they no longer need us.

122 plates!!! This is a new high count for the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church team. The 4th Saturday of each month typically draws a large crowd because our Neighbors remind each other that there will be sausage patties, biscuits and gravy and fruit juice - all of this in addition to traditional burritos. Thank you for hot breakfast, friendly conversation with Neighbors and your partnership in this ministry.

Our pantry was also busy. They provided groceries for 82 Neighbors, 2 families, 8 dogs and 2 cats. The families were truly grateful to receive turkeys with their family boxes. Thank you to two volunteers who brought in frozen turkeys that were part of grocery store promotions.

Remember Albert? He visited Neighbors in Need for several years. He was loud, short tempered and a most willing helper during early morning set up. Thank you to Tony with Advocates Recovery for sharing this article that he found on the My Edmonds News website.

It's Christmas concert season!! Trinity's full Christmas concert calendar will include two benefits for Neighbors in Need.

  • Sunday, December 8 at 5 PM - Puget Sound Brass Ensemble. This concert is an education as well as a celebration. We learn about a spectrum of brass instruments as well as celebrate the holiday season. They request donations of food and toiletries or financial gifts.

  • Sunday, December 15 at 4 PM Ahn Family Mukilteo Christmas Concert. This very large group of instrumental and vocal musicians offer a glamorous afternoon of traditional Christmas celebration. They ask for financial gifts to benefit Neighbors in Need.

We begin a week when we are especially intentional about giving thanks.

  • Thank you for your prayers for our Neighbors and volunteers

  • Thank you for so much time and energy that you give to our Neighbors. You make a difference in so many lives.

  • Thank you to neighboring congregations, advocates and community services resources for giving our Neighbors dignity, hope and Saturday morning family.

We give thanks for you.
